Operator: World Dead Hang Championship (Michigan). Policies apply to worlddeadhang.com and competition on this platform.
1. Who Must Complete This
Athletes under 18 years of age require consent from a parent or legal guardian before participating in WDHC, including online submissions.
2. Guardian Acknowledgments
By providing consent, the guardian confirms:
- They are the parent or legal guardian of the minor athlete
- They understand the inherent risks described in the Participation Waiver
- They agree to the Participation Waiver and Media Release on behalf of the minor
- They consent to collection of the minor's name, age category, city/country, performance data, and video proof URL per the Privacy Policy; public display of a Watch link on the leaderboard is optional
- The minor will use safe equipment and appropriate supervision for home submissions
3. All ages welcome - Online and gym nights (under 13)
WDHC is a family sport. All ages may submit online and hang at sanctioned partner gym nights. Under 18 always needs guardian consent.
Online board (worlddeadhang.com submit): The public form accepts all ages. When the athlete is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete the guardian name and consent checkbox on the same form. For athletes under 13, public Watch is default private unless the guardian explicitly opts the hang into public display. Guardians may request deletion at any time via [email protected].
Sanctioned gym nights / in-person: Kids under 13 (and younger siblings who train with their family) are welcome when a parent or legal guardian is physically present, host staff are present, the guardian completes a paper or digital parental waiver for that event, and the guardian supervises the athlete. Event hosts follow the Sanctioned Events Policy and host kit.
4. How Consent Is Collected Online
On the public submit form (and portal hang submit when applicable), when the athlete is under 18 the guardian must complete:
- Guardian full legal name (text field)
- Checkbox agreeing to this Parental / Guardian Consent, the Participation Waiver, and Media Release on behalf of the minor
The minor's name, date of birth, contact email, and performance data are collected on the same form. Digital checkbox + typed guardian name is the current product method of acceptance (same weight as a wet-ink signature for online participation, subject to applicable law).
5. Additional Information (Live Events / Escalation)
Sanctioned live events or high-scrutiny cases may additionally require guardian relationship, phone, email separate from the athlete, and a signed PDF. WDHC may request those fields by email when needed for safety or integrity.
6. State Law Notice
Enforceability of parental waivers varies by state. Parental consent requirements vary by state; guardians should review local rules for minor athletes.
