1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement made between you ("you") and World Dead Hang Championship ("WDHC," "we," "us," or "our"), operated from Michigan (formal LLC formation in progress), concerning your access to and use of the https://worlddeadhang.com website (the "Site") and related services. You agree that by accessing the Site or submitting a hang, you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all of these Terms and Conditions and the documents in our Legal Hub.
2. Athlete Waiver and Liability Release
You acknowledge that participating in physical activities such as a dead hang involves inherent risks of physical injury. By submitting your attempt, you voluntarily assume all risks and release World Dead Hang Championship (and its operators, agents, and successors) from any and all liability for any injury that may be sustained by you, as further described in the Participation Waiver.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
The Site and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright and trademark laws.
4. User Representations & Submission Rules
By submitting content, you represent that: you are at least 18 years of age (or have valid guardian consent); all information you submit is truthful and accurate; and your video proof is an unedited, continuous recording that complies with the Submission Agreement and official WDHC Rulebook. You may upload a video file or provide a third-party link. If you upload a file, WDHC may store a copy for review, your Athlete Portal, and (if you leave Watch public) a short finish clip. Reviewers need access to verify your hang; a public Watch link on the leaderboard is optional.
WDHC accepts a timing tolerance of - 3 seconds between submitted time and verified video time. Discrepancies within this window will be corrected to the verified time without notification. Discrepancies exceeding 3 seconds will result in the verified time being recorded with athlete notification.
5. User Generated Contributions (Video Links and Content Rights)
By submitting your Contribution (a video proof URL, performance data, etc.), you retain ownership of your video on the third-party platform but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Access the linked video for verification during review.
- Access your linked or uploaded video for verification. Optional uploads may be stored for review, portal, and public clips when Watch is public.
- Link to, embed, display, or clip your video on the Site and our social channels only when you authorize a public Watch link (or give separate written promo consent).
- Use your name, hang time, tier, location (as submitted), and other performance stats for the public leaderboard and related editorial coverage, with attribution.
- If you keep your video private, we still use board stats and name as above, but we will not promote or embed your video link without public Watch or separate consent.
Your hang time and leaderboard entry may be published without a public video link. If you request the deletion of your account, this license remains in effect for any content already published or used.
6. Submission Fraud
Any athlete found to have submitted falsified times, edited video, or otherwise misrepresented their attempt will be permanently banned from WDHC competition and all records removed. WDHC reserves the right to remove any submission at its sole discretion.
7. Record Dispute Process
Athletes may dispute a decision by submitting the dispute in writing to our official email within 7 days. We will review and provide a final written response within 14 days.
8. Record Removal and Succession
If a verified record is removed due to a violation, the next eligible and verified performance in that category will be recognized as the new official record. This change will be announced publicly.
9. Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Site for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan.
11. Disclaimer
The Site is provided on an as-is basis. Your use of the Site is at your sole risk.
